Join us in KidzTown for an exciting Bible Study time. Sunday School begins at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings directly after the morning Worship Time.  Join us upstairs in the Welcome Center.

Curriculum
Our curriculum teaches the Bible using relevant and current information to help kids apply to their lives today.   We use Bible study material from LifeWay Christian Resources. Each lesson is Biblically based and is focused on Bible truths and Scripture memory. Grades 1 through 5 use the Bible Teaching for Kids Curriculum.  Our 6th Grade classes use the “Everything You Need to Know to be a Teenager” series from LifeWay.

Our Preschool Ministry uses Bible stories, music and other tools to teach Biblical truths to our young ones. Our Preschool Area is located downstairs in the Welcome Center.

Curriculum
We use Bible Study curriculum from LifeWay Christian Resources. Each lesson is prepared by teachers who truly love kids and seek to demonstrate to every child God’s love for them. Lessons are Biblically centered and age-appropriate for each class & age group.

Sunday Evenings 5:15 p.m. - 6:15 p.m.
Ages 3 through Youth
3 year old choir practice is held downstairs in the Preschool Area.
All other choirs are held upstairs in the Welcome Center.
 

Preschool and Children's Choirs are a vital part of the worship ministry at First Southern Baptist Church. We strive to teach music, worship, and Christian character to the next generation of church leaders. Our leaders create positive, fun, exciting, and rewarding experiences that will give children a lifelong appreciation for music and a place to serve the Lord.  Everyone is welcome to participate in Children’s Choirs.

Music Explorers
These groups are for children age 3 - Kindergarten. They will explore music basics in a context of play and activity to make learning music a fun experience. These groups are really "pre-choir" experiences, where the children gain foundational skills in music and working together. There are three groups of Music Explorers for 3's, 4's, and 5's. The birth date cut-off is September 1st of the current choir year.

Music Navigators
As your children learn to navigate music, these groups focus on teaching music as worship and outreach. They will continue to build musica skills, as well as presentation skills for performance. They will sing in worship services at community events. They will also participate in special musical productions.
Grades 1, 2, and 3.

Expedition Choir
The focus of this group is leading in worship and preparing programs for ministry. More advanced musically, they will learn to sing parts. Basic instrumental skills will be taught as interest arises. This age group attends Young Musicians Camp every summer at Falls Creek.
Grades 4-6

Special Programs & Events

2008 Spring Program:The children present special musical programs periodically to provide growth in their performace skills, build up their church family, and reach out to the community. Parts are distributed by audition, set by the choir directors.

Young Musicians Camp
August 4-7, 2008
Our goal is to bring children together to learn more about God through music, Bible study, recreation and good fellowship. The daily program includes: Music Rehearsals, Music Calisthenics, Bible Study and Evening Worship.
The camp is for kids entering 4th - 7th Grade.
The camp is held at Falls Creek Conference Center near Davis, Oklahoma with a special presentation here at First Southern on Thursday.

Sundays Mornings 9:15 a.m.
During each worship hour, we offer extended teaching to children Birth - PreK.  Older Children are invited to join their parents in Family Worship in the Auditorium.

Sunday Evenings 6:15 p.m.
For children Birth - 3 years old.  Again, older children are invited to join their parents in Family Worship in the Auditorium.
